They will consist of basic dance skills and teacher or student choreography. There will be a written mid-term on the French dance vocabulary. Second semester will consist of a public performance at the spring dance show and an in class final exam.
NO DANCER WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR GRADING WITHOUT FOLLOWING THESE INSTRUCTIONS:
Dance Clothes – Loaner clothes, sweatshirts or jackets are not acceptable on grading days. You must only wear your dance clothes when you are being graded.
Jewelry – No excessive jewelry is to be worn to class and all jewelry must be removed on grading days. Please leave expensive jewelry at home when we are grading.
Hair – Each student will be required to pull all of their hair back out of their face.
Make Up Work
Dance Assignments – You have one week from an excused absence to make up any missed assignments. It is the student’s responsibility to set a date with teacher and with their group to make up a dance assignment. It is up to your group if they choose to do the dance again with you. Written work is not accepted as make up work for Dance Assignments.
Excused Absences – Make up work will only be allowed for excused absences. It is the student’s responsibility to make up work. If there is an excused absence, written work will be accepted for daily class participation points. A dance magazine can be checked out in the locker room office. A one-page report on an article will make up one day of absence. Half the page should be a summary of the article and the other half should be your opinion of the article. Anything less than a page will not be sufficient to make up any points. The make up work and magazine are due one week after the absence. The dance magazine must be returned in order for you to receive your points. If the magazine is not returned, your name will be given to ASB and you will be charged the price of the magazine.
In Class Makeup Work – If you are ill or injured, you still must dress and do written work in class. Magazines will be available in class and you may follow the same procedures as stated above with you full-page report due at the end of class.
